Why am I writing this?
I encounter these words from time to time and It just grinds my gears every time I see them. I’m just listing them here to keep track of them and share with others easily. Just to see if I’m the only one who feels this way. I’m planning to make this a comprehensive list ordered in alphabetical order with usages and the best explainations to why I don’t like them.

Content as in refering to the posts/videos/media of a person/organisation in the internet. There’s something very dehumanizing about this word. It is such a broad word and can be used to refer to any type of media. All types of online media can be considered someone’s content.
A priest talking about religion on the internet is content. A social media influencer posting beautiful travel photos is content. When someone refers to their media as content, it suddenly snaps all my interest away from the person and into the media itself. The word content just gives of a vibe of industrial monotonous repetition. Paired with the word consumption and it becomes even more repulsive. What do you mean I consume content? I consume food too. And it makes sense there. For some reason, I associate consumption with necessity. And I don’t think online media is a necessity.
Phrases like “Watching videos” and “Scrolling reels” are much better alternatives to content consumption. Instead of saying “I like the content the make”, I prefer to say “I like the videos/pictures/blogs they post”
